The pageant started in 1994. The winner of the event competes in the Miss World and the 1st runner-up competes in the Miss Earth pageant. The first Miss Nepal crowned was Ruby Rana. Other Miss Nepal title winners include Jharana Bajracharya, Sumi Khadka, and Malvika Subba, among others.
